libpython2.7-dev software package provides Header files and a static library for Python (v2.7), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libpython2.7-dev
libpython2.7-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libpython2.7-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libpython2.7-dev *
You will get with libpython2.7-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
